Audio Periodical

The Monroeville Music Center Audio Periodical is an intermittent audio cassette digest curated by the staff and students at the Monroeville Music Center. If you would like to subscribe, please use the contact form for more information.

Past Issues:

Episode one (2015), entitled "Future," gives the listener a chance to eavesdrop on a typical lesson where the teacher (using computer assisted speech) instructs the students to imagine what the future will be like, and to compose and play a piece that they think sounds futuristic. Some children are interviewed and their compositions are played. The segment ends with a private selection from the archives that suits the theme.

Also included with episode one is a small electronics project that utilizes the following parts to make a working photo-theremin. The instructions can be obtained here.

C: 0.1 uf capacitor

PC: Cadmium Sulfide photocell

Q1: 2N3904 NPN transistor

Q2: 2N3906 PNP transistor

S: 9-ohm miniature speaker

Once the circuit is built, the subscriber can then proceed to side two of the cassette, which contains song selections that suit the episode theme and provide suitable accompaniment for practicing the photo-theremin. The following long-out-of-print or previously unreleased songs are included on side two.
